Flash should drop off the face of the planet.

I'm one of those designers that sort of wishes that flash would just drop off the face of the planet. Blasphemy, you say!

Well, if your site is done entirely in flash, you are just a needle in the haystack as far as the search engines are concerned. Not to mention, unless your user is going to a site where they expect to see flash, they are just going to be annoyed, especially if there are wait times involved. People are looking to get information as quickly as possible.

Now, without further delay, I present one of the best websites I have ever seen, that just so happens to be done entirely in flash.

Positives: cutest site ever.
Negatives: Would anyone actually find this if they wanted to? No.

Take a look...

Outdated Logos

I've seen a lot of outdated logos out there. And by outdated, I don't mean old. Logos are supposed to be old and timeless — your company's identity.

The outdated logos I mean are the logos that were created 10 years ago in Microsoft Paint, and no longer print well on today's presses. Several years ago, I remember when the best dpi for print was 200. Now, very rarely will anyone settle for less than 400.

If you need your logo cleaned up and redesigned in a format that will last you an extremely long time, please don't hesitate to contact me for a quote.

Inexpensive Advertising

After I complete a job, I like to thank my clients. I usually send a handwritten note on some beautiful, creative stationary along with a business card. I even handwrite the envelope; it seems personal that way.

Last but not least, I include my business card and a single teabag for their enjoyment. I usually prefer to send Mighty Leaf (left) because of their silk teabags. Some people say it sounds extremely cheesy; however, this tradition, which I've been doing for several years, somehow keeps me in the minds of my clients.

I prefer to treat business cards like a leave behind piece rather than just a means of contact. It should have your logo and exactly what you do. It should be compelling yet conventional for your industry.

Please don't hesitate to contact me to find out how you can begin advertising you and your company on something as small and inexpensive as a w3.5" x 2" card.

Cat in a Tea Bag

This morning I turned the calendar to April and what did I see? A cat in a tea bag! Do my eyes deceive me? It's adorable.:

I have a cat of my own. We named him Akira but after a few months my husband and I gave him way too many nicknames. Now we just call him "bubs." I thought I would share with you all the cats in my life...

Akira, (aka, "bubs" when he was 6 months old)

Adult Bubs.

I called this one Mr. Gray. A kitten from one of the stray cats.
He found a home with a friend of mine.

Someone is playing hide and seek. This cat is still adopted by my parents.

Awww.

All grown up!

The first litter of kittens, who all found homes.
We kept the one on the left and called her Nikita.

This was a stray cat my parents adopted named Malcolm.
He was the most friendly cat I have ever met.

Caught in the act! She also still lives with my parents.

Sorry for the cuteness overload. I have a soft spot for kittens, puppies, and kittens & puppies in tea bags.

teapot purse

I accidentally found this while searching for tea towels. Knowing how much I love tea, a dear friend of mine gave me this for my birthday one year.

Yes, this is real, and yes, I actually have this purse in this color.
